“Vision without action is merely a dream. Action without vision just passes the time.” – Joel A. Barker
It all starts with want you want. What do you want to do? What is it that you wish to experience? What would you like to pursue? Never limit yourself when forming your vision for your life. Be real but also ambitious. Without a concrete vision of what you want out of life, you’ll never attain it. Your vision will allow you to stay focused in the present and will provide you the motivation you need to laugh in the face of failure. Without it, you are just living day by day with no purpose. No value.
What does the life you want to live look like?

Well fucking said.
Too many times I find individuals setting overly ambitious and unrealistic goals, as opposed to small chunking their intentions to establish more realistic stepping stones.
I also believe this to be the key precursor to setting yourself up for failure. You anticipate shit to happen overnight and are discouraged when things don't turn out the way you expected them to. Dismayed with the amount of hard work it actually takes to accomplish your goals, you find it much easier on your psyche to give up entirely.
My thoughts? Learn to appreciate the menial tasks: those small things you have to do, day in and day out, to achieve your ultimate vision. This is the key to success.
